2.0 Latin honors
Effective this 3rd term, AY 2009-2012, Section 10.4.5 of the SHB or the policy with regard to receiving Latin Honors is now revised to the following:
OLD: Students with ID# 109- and above must not have A GRADE LOWER THAN 2.0
NEW: Students with ID#109- and above must NOT HAVE A FAILING GRADE IN ANY ACADEMIC/NON-ACADEMIC COURSE.
This amendment was approved by the Student Handbook Revisions Committee and the Academics Council last 2nd term to allow students to still have the chance to aspire for Latin Honors despite getting grades below 2.0. This rule will be effective for all ID#109- and above students beginning this 3rd term, for those who are graduating, and for the next AY 2012-15. Please spread the news!

The Collegiate General Education Achievement Test
Students who are interested in shifting to another program within the same college or another college may apply for shifting only after two (2) completed terms in the current program. The process for applying to shift begins on the first week of the term. The schedule and procedures for shifting are available through the bulletin board and internet postings of the Office of the University Registrar.
Your Schedule - First Day Tips
Schedule
Earlier you say it the better! Usually 10mins binibigay niyang time bago siya mag attendance :D
- Kapag 30mins ang break, wag na mag tambay ng malayo! basta mag break ka kahit saang malapit sa class mo!
- Kapag 1hr and up ang break mo, tambay nalang kahit san :))

Guide on Adjustment for those WITHOUT Adjustment Passes
Tips on Enrollment and Adjustment
Enrollment
- If you have no failing grades from the previous term, you may immediately enroll for the next term once you get your EAF from the Vice Dean’s Office
- If you have a failing grade, you must adjust your schedule to take that subject again. If you failed COMALGE (Example) you cannot take BUSMATH and/or ECONONE for the next term, you’ll have to adjust so that BUSMATH and/or ECONONE wouldn’t be on your schedule and be replaced by COMALGE. If you failed a FLOATING subject, you may take it again anytime regardless of term and pre-requisite (Take a look at DLSU Frosh Tips’ guide on this :) )
- It is advised that you pay your tuition on or before the deadline WITHOUT Surcharges to avoid an additional P100 per delayed week until the deadline for payment of tuition with surcharges.
Adjustment
ONLINE Adjustment
- This is done if you have a failing grade from the previous term.
- You must log in at the designated time and adjust your schedule to replace/add/subtract a subject to get the subject you failed again
- You can enroll in any time slot if its compatible with the assigned block schedule
- The sections offered per class are limited depending on how many students require the class for the following term. So be aware as some new sections may open anytime.
- Claiming of REVISED EAF’s is still ongoing, claim it at L229, just bring your ID. This is totally FREE no payment at all
MANUAL Adjustment
- Firstly you must secure an adjustment pass on the said date, you are the one to choose the time slot for your adjustment.
- You will need to PRINT the pass out ASAP as the service on MLS will only be open on the said date.
- Once you have a pass, you must on on your preferred schedule and adjust it. This is usually done in the Office of the Vice Dean for your respective college.
- After adjusting, you will have to pay P220 inclusive of the Adjustment Fee and the payment for the reprinting of your EAF. Payment can be done at the Accounting Office located at the Conservatory :)
Enjoy the tips fellow Froshies!
That’s right ID111 ako! :D

- Oo, basta makuha mo yung grade na required. and wala kang 1.5 and below forever and walang bagsak. [source]
Ano benifits ng 2nd honor DL?
- unlimited cuts. lalapitan ng girls/boys kasi smart ka. ;)
Every term ba may ididstribute na syllabus?:)
- Yup every 1st or 2nd meeting. Required yan sa mga profs.
Kapag may 1.5 and below na grade ako sa isang subject, pwede ko ba ulitin para maka 2.5?
- Bawal na ulitin yung napasa ng subject. ;)

Tips for Freshmen
- Sit in front. You do not have to raise your hand, but generally try to sit in the first few rows during lectures. You’re less likely to ditch mid-lecture this way, you can hear the person speaking, and if you have questions you will get them answered. Sit. In. Front.
- “Turn to Page 394.” Read the textbook. Skimming through just to answer specific homework questions will get you a B- on the final. Professors rely heavily on the textbooks because the words within them are usually derived from the research of colleagues (or sometimes themselves). Also, be sure to rent your textbooks instead of buying them. You will save a fortune.
- “Step into My Office” Go to office hours. Regularly. If the class has 10 people, go to office hours. If it has 500 people, still go to office hours. It’s usually mandatory that professors hold them, and they’re literally sitting in their offices, begging for some kid to walk by. In the times I’ve been to office hours I’ve been given insider info by the prof on specific pages/diagrams to read, been toldexactly what to write to get an A, even got extra credit a few times. Yes, you will be that bitch who goes to office hours. But you will get a better grade. Even if the professor is an asshole in lecture and seems intimidating, go with a friend and get to know them. It’s not as awkward as you think it will be. Do it. Also, unrelated — show up to the discussion courses if you have them. They are useful and sometimes attendance will add 5-10% to your grade.
- “But What Will Happen to My Blog” Download SelfControl. It’s an application that runs on your Mac that blocks certain websites (read: Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter) of your choosing for however long you set it. Press start and it will become impossible for you to log into Tumblr (and any website that ends in .tumblr.com) for however long it takes you to study.
- Organize Download Evernote for your computer, iPhone, Android, iPad, toothbrush, EVERYTHING. Take notes in class on it and it syncs what you wrote to all of your devices instantly. You’ll also want to utilize the calendar on your phone as a planner. Seriously. Make a note of everything. Homework assignments are easy to forget about in college, as are exams and project due dates. As soon as you hear, “will be due,” you should be logging it somewhere.
- Schedule Be smart about scheduling classes. Try to put them all in a back to back to back block so that you don’t have hours between each one. Coming out of high school, it probably sounds like heaven to be able to choose to dally between classes, but it will ruin you. You will either forget about classes or you’ll be tempted to skip and ditch because you got busy in the two hours between your English class and your Poli Sci class and oh what the hell, Poli Sci sucks and I’m on Tumblr and this needs to be reblogged. Long blocks help keep you focused and once you’re done, you’re done and the rest of the day is yours.
- Go to the Library Do not study in your room. You will get nothing done. Find the nicest library on campus and do your work there. It’s easier to focus and the Wi-Fi is probably faster.
- Realize You’re Paying for This I originally set out to make ten little points but then I realized that I could save time by saying this: you’re paying for this now. If you fuck off, you’re wasting your own (or your parents’) money. If you’re on a scholarship or financial aid, those things can be revoked or you can become ineligible. Also, your GPA still counts. If you’re going to graduate school that much is obvious, but even if you’re not, a LOT of jobs will want to see your transcripts when you apply, and it’s somewhat standard to put your GPA on your resume. Try to keep it above a 3.4 (a 3.7 is ideal). Now would probably be a good time to start taking what you’re doing at least a little bit seriously.
